36. Troubleshooting¶
I can see my mouse, but I cannot make selections with my mouse.
I am using Nvidia graphics, and the visuals look somewhat washed out.
My mouse pointer (cursor) is hidden, i.e., I cannot see it on the screen.
I have a Jeti radio and can calibrate. But after calibration, SeligSIM still shows: NOT CALIBRATED.
In the Transmitter Selection window, I click to calibrate and get the popup “Cannot Calibrate”.
When I try to fly in SeligSIM, the aircraft makes sound but does not move.
When I try to fly in SeligSIM, the aircraft will not move and the propeller turns slowly.
I would like to go back to the default install settings used in the Options menu.
What controls does my current aircraft have? How do I get to the Flight Manual?
My transmitter sticks or switches do the wrong thing.
How do I get back to a previous screen?
How do I pick a different aircraft, flying site, etc.?
I typed in a number, but the old one came back.
How can I get help when I am running the simulator?
How can I get help, while flying?
- I start SeligSIM and my whole screen is filled with what looks like the lower left part of the SeligSIM window.
This is also the answer to: “I cannot make selections with my mouse.” Further, user mentions: “My screen looks like this:”
If you are running a 4k monitor or some other type of high resolution monitor, this tip will apply.
Solution #1: Use 100% Font Magnification. Set it in the Windows Control Panel. Look for “Display” and then “Scale and Layout”. If you are not running at 100%, then the mouse will be offset. Set your computer to run at 100% or else you will not be able to interact with the sim. It is mentioned in the Getting Started: Part I chapter. If you get stuck not using 100% font magnification and pressing the
Esc
key does not stop the program, then find “SeligSIM.exe” in the Task Manager and click “End Task” to stop it. Then set your font to 100% and restart SeligSIM.Solution #2: This approach is a one time setting change. If the change works on your system, it is better than Solution #1 above.
Find the SeligSIM.exe program in the installation folder. It will likely be located here:
C:\SeligSIM 2024.5
Right click on the SeligSIM.exe program and select “Properties” to get the Properties screen (first image below). Then click on the “Compatibility” tab and click on the “Change high DPI settings” button (second image). A new screen then pops up (third image). Check “Use this setting to fix scaling problems …” and also check “Override high DPI scaling behavior.” In the selection box, use “Application”. Click “OK” on each window to save and close your new setting for running SeligSIM.exe. Now when you run the sim, the window should be scaled properly.
Further, under the “Compatibility” tab (second image), you can choose “Change settings for all users” and apply the same settings.
- I can see my mouse, but I cannot make selections with my mouse.
See the answer for: “I start SeligSIM and my whole screen is filled with what looks like the lower left quadrant of SeligSIM.”
- I am running Windows 11. The simulator crashes when I click to enter the Transmitter Selection window for a second time, or randomly crashes.
The solution is to find the SeligSIM.exe program in the installation folder, i.e., here: C:\SeligSIM 2024.5. Right click on the SeligSIM.exe program and select “Properties”. Then click on the “Compatibility” tab. Check the box to run the program in Compatiblity Mode for either “Windows 7” or “Windows 8”.
If you encounter this problem, please send a report to contact@seligsim.com. Include the following key details about your system:
CPU (e.g., Intel Core i7).
GPU (e.g., Intel UHD Graphics 750 or Intel Iris Xe).
Windows version (e.g., Windows 11 Pro 23H2).
This issue has happened on these Win 11 Intel-based systems:
Desktop PC Intel Core i7 32GB RAM
Intel UHD Graphics 750
Windows 11 Pro (23H2) (latest update Dec 2024)
Interface: Radiomaster TX16S with the selected USB interface named “RM TX16S Joystick”.HP Notebook EliteBook 850 Intel Core i7 32GB RAM
Intel Iris Xe Graphics Family
Windows 11 Enterprise (23H2) (latest update Dec 2024)
Interface: Radiomaster TX16S with the selected USB interface named “RM TX16S Joystick”.Lenovo Laptop PC Intel 12th Gen Core i5-1235U
Intel UHD graphics
Windows 11 Home (23H2) (latest update Jan 2025)
Interface: Radiomaster TX16S with the selected USB interface named “RM TX16S Joystick”.- When I start SeligSIM, a black window comes up, then disappears, and then nothing else happens. Or my screen flashes.
Download and install the latest graphics card driver for your computer, e.g., from AMD, Nvidia, or Intel.
- I am using Nvidia graphics, and the visuals look somewhat washed out
On RCGroups, a user (m0t0rhead) has a fix. The text below is largely taken from his RCGroups post:
Install and run Reshade_setup and use the browse button and find the SeligSIM.exe - Next - API should be correct OpenGL - Next - Effects - Standard and SweetFX (default) - downloads and finish.
Run SeligSIM - hit the Home Key - should open the Reshade overlay to allow configuration.
Under Home tab I selected HDR (Fake HDR.fx), Levels (Levels.fx) and Technicolor2 (Technicolor2.fx) - also ticked performance mode.
Then click the Settings tab - click the overlay key which defaults to the HOME key and chose the DEL key as that isn’t assigned by SeligSIM.
Now hit DEL to close the Reshade overlay and be amazed by the colorful transformation!
The above applies to using Reshade version 6.1.1.
- My mouse pointer (cursor) is hidden, i.e., I cannot see it on the screen.
On some systems (e.g., with Intel Graphics), if you use mouse “pointer trails,” that can cause the mouse pointer (cursor) to be hidden on the SeligSIM screen. Turn off pointer trails. You can turn it OFF from your Windows Control Panel. Find the Mouse Properties screen and uncheck “Display pointer trails.”

Mouse pointer trails unchecked.¶
- I have a Jeti radio and can calibrate. But after calibration, SeligSIM still shows: NOT CALIBRATED.
You are making a direct connection to SeligSIM and not using vJoy/JG for remapping: The problem is how the sim interacts with your Jeti USB interface name. Jeti uses a “/” character in the name. That slash is the special path character in Windows, and SeligSIM tries to save the calibration file to a folder named “Jeti DC” that does not exist. The problem can be easily solved by creating a folder named “Jeti DC” in the sim “Calibrations” folder. The instructions to create the folder “Jeti DC” are below. The first image shows the Jeti USB joystick name with the “/” character. The next image shows how to create the folder in the “Calibrations” folder. Your actually installation should be at C:\SeligSIM 2024.5. Find your installation folder, and then use “mkdir” command to make the folder “Jeti DC”. When complete, you should see the “Jeti DC” folder when you browse to it using Windows Explorer. After restarting and calibrating again in SeligSIM, the calibration file should be saved to the “Jeti DC” folder, with a name like that shown below.
Postscript
This “Jeti DC” folder is now installed with SeligSIM 2024.5a and thus it does not need to be created manually. Nevertheless, this troubleshooting item is retained in case it applies to other radios/problems in the future.

- In the Transmitter Selection window, I click to calibrate and get the popup “Cannot Calibrate”.
The “Cannot Calibrate” popup appears if you click to calibrate, but do not have the proper USB interface selected on the previous Fly Screen. Go back to the Fly Screen and click on USB Interface and select an interface that is connected to your PC. Reselect the airplane. [Select the proper transmitter (if the wrong transmitter icon is shown).] Then return to the Transmitter Selection window to calibrate the newly selected USB interface. For reference, the popup warning that you see is this below.
- When I try to fly in SeligSIM, the aircraft makes sound but does not move.
This is also the answer to: “When I try to fly in SeligSIM, the aircraft will not move and the propeller turns slowly.”
The aircraft is being reset continuously because a switch on your transmitter has been assigned to control
Reset-To-Home
andReset-In-Place
, and the switch is not in the right position for your setup. If you do not move the reset-in-place and reset-to-home controls during calibration, then your controller can “send” a constant reset signal to the simulator. In that case, the airplane will not move and the propeller will turn slowly. The solution is to recalibrate and when you get to the point of moving the reset controls, be sure that you have a three-position switch assigned to it (or a combination of two, two-position switches). The reset slider during calibration should be movable to: low, middle, and high.
Finally, another possibility is that you have the reset switch on your transmitter in the high or low position. That will “send” a constant reset to the simulator and the airplane will not move while the propeller turns slowly. Move the reset switch to the other position.
There is actually “a last resort”. You can use the SeligSIM Power Tools program to turn off the controller reset functionality. Find that setting in the “Controller Options” section of the Power Tools. Checking the box there will disable it. Then to reset the airplane after a crash, use the keyboard to reset and/or allow the automatic reset to reset the airplane.
- When I try to fly in SeligSIM, the aircraft will not move and the propeller turns slowly.
See the answer for: “When I try to fly in SeligSIM, the aircraft makes sound but does not move.”
- I would like to go back to the default install settings used in the Options menu.
Follow these steps:
To reset the options back to the default install settings, start SeligSIM.
Go to Options | Messages.
Click on the box for Use Default Options Upon Shutdown.
Exit and restart SeligSIM. Note: This will restore the sim settings to those when originally installed. This will not, however, remove or change any edited aircraft or transmitters or change the calibration of your USB Interface.
- What controls does my current aircraft have? How do I get to the Flight Manual?
Depending on what your flying, see the flight manual for airplanes. To jump right to your aircraft, click on the Flight Manual button in the sim from the Aircraft Selection window. The same Flight Manual button is on the Single Pilot Freestyle window.
- My transmitter sticks or switches do the wrong thing.
Recalibrate your transmitter. If you are using Joystick Gremlin (JG) and vJoy, be sure that you have clicked on the JR gamepad icon to make it green, i.e., active.
- How do I stop flying? (stop a flight session)
At the top left of your keyboard, press the
Esc
key.
- How do I get back to a previous screen?
Click on Back, usually at bottom left. Or, at top right, click on Return to Main Menu.
- How do I pick a different aircraft, flying site, etc.?
Click on the picture of what you want to change. Or, at left, click on the word of what you want to change.
- I typed in a number, but the old one came back.
Most numbers have a range of allowable values. Invalid numbers, e.g., -10 lb for aircraft weight, are ignored. The previous value is then used.
- How can I get help when I am running the simulator? (help from this user manual)
When you are running the simulator, to get online help for whatever window you are in, at top right click on the green question mark button, i.e., this:
- How can I get help while flying?
Press the
/
key (same key as “?”). Do not hold down shift to actual type “?”. Just press the key with the question mark on it. If you cannot read while flying, also pressP
to pause the flight. PressP
again to resume flying. The on-screen help-overlay images are usually out-of-date. See the key commands chapter for up-to-date information.
